UK-based web design

All work is carried out in the UK and the benefits are clear.

The Internet makes the world smaller, but it's still nice to deal with someone local.

Many budget web designers will no longer carry out your work in the United Kingdom. More often than not, work is out-sourced to India and the Far East where wages are lower and websites can be developed for much cheaper. If price is your primary concern, then this can be both appealing and effective.

However, the problems come because you are not dealing directly with the developer - you are dealing with someone in the UK who will then speak to someone in India, who will then ask the developer to do the work. More middlemen than you'd care to have involved! If something goes wrong, or you need urgent or complex changes, this chain of command can often lead to long delays and/or mis-understood requirements. Also, by dealing with someone who is not local, your local requirements may not be fully understood.

We have clients who have used non-UK web designers and they came to us when things didn't work out. It can, and does, work, but is risky in terms of the end product and support.

Designed, developed and hosted in the UK

Webthinking are based entirely in the UK. We are a registered UK Limited Company and all work is carried out in the UK. We do not, and will not, out-source any of your project to overseas developers.

In the interests of being transparent, there are times when we require the help of freelance specialist developers, for example, in the creation of advanced Flash components or some graphical design work. However, these freelance developers are in the UK and are known to Webthinking. We use them again and again, so can be sure of the output they provide. In any case, we will always tell you beforehand if any aspect of your project will not be done by Webthinking staff.
